Dublin City Wedding Photography | Claire & Robin | Destination Wedding | Dean Dublin, Harcourt St.
I was so excited to get the opportunity to shoot the Dublin City Wedding celebration party for Claire and Robin. The gorgeous couple live in Abu Dhabi and had previously eloped to Denmark in April and got married on the magical island of Aero. While the ceremony was an incredibly intimate affair, C+R told their families weeks before the elopement and promised them a celebration back home in Dublin come the Summer.
And what a celebration it was. It took place in The Dean Hotel, Dublin. The drinks reception was held in the incredibly stylish, neon-swathed lobby bar with the main reception in the Blue Room.
Claire: “We wanted it to be really relaxed, smart but informal and lots of fun. The Dean was the perfect venue to bring all of those aspects together. The laid-back urban feel of the lobby in the Dean was an ideal reception area to set the scene. The Blue Room provided an amazing canvas for us to work with – the banquet style tables removed the formality of a sit-down meal, our florist created beautiful unstructured wild flower arrangements (set in jugs and watering cans) that gave the room texture, along with an array of candles which added warmth and a homely feel. We brought a few room accessories to make it even more personal; a map of Aero adorned with a fairy-light heart, copper letters with lights that took prime position on the bar and a polaroid camera to capture moments throughout the night. We also had a large screen showing pictures of our ceremony in Denmark as most people had only seen a few pictures.”
I met Claire & Robin in their stylish and modern room, decked out with a record player and Beastie Boys records. YES! (If there were a way to make a Beastie Boys reference in every blog I’d be a happy man.) We had about twenty minutes to play with before the reception was to start and we made the most of it by getting lots of shots both in the Dean (in the room and on Sophie’s Swing) and just across the road in the stunning Iveagh Gardens.
Claire: “Living abroad – I’ve been in the UAE for 11 years and Robin for 7 years – it is rare that we get to see friend and family so capturing them was much more important to us than the ‘couple shots’. Luckily our fantastic photographer was able to do both. We selected John at JAM Shoots specifically for his laid-back untraditional style. Although we were running short on time ahead of the reception start he was able to capture some amazing images of us in The Dean, on the infamous Sophie’s swing and in Iveagh Gardens all in about 20 minutes! He then spent the rest of the evening documenting the drinks reception and the toasts throughout dinner. We couldn’t have been happier with the outcome, so many precious memories and moments captured in such a creative way.”
Claire & Robin, it was an absolute joy spending the day with you and thank you so much again for asking me to capture it.
Delighted to announce also that you’ll be able to read more about this gorgeous day on an upcoming feature for One Fab Day!
